Course Summary

This 90-minute presentation will explore the valuable role that marks comparison evidence can play in supporting criminal investigations. Our forensic specialists will provide an overview of the range of marks comparison disciplines available and demonstrate how these examinations can assist investigators in identifying, linking and evaluating evidential material.

Using case examples, the session will highlight the forensic significance of marks evidence and illustrate how robust comparison techniques can establish important links between individuals, objects and events.

The presentation will also examine the critical role of Crime Scene Investigators and pathologists in the recognition, recovery and preservation of marks evidence. Guidance will be provided on the submission of exhibits to maximise evidential value, together with an overview of the evaluative processes used by forensic specialists and the reporting formats currently employed within forensic casework.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with our specialists during a dedicated question-and-answer session.
