- Summary of Job:
- We are looking for a Forensic Administrator to join our Sample Reception
and Returns Department as we continue to expand.
You will be required to receive a broad range of samples from our Police and other customers and to provide administrative support to the scientific staff in the forensic laboratory.
In light of the serious consequences of any error, this role requires meticulous attention to detail, accurate record keeping and a responsible attitude to the work being carried out.
You will have a basic secondary education GCSE or A levels (or equivalent) in a technical or scientific subject. This is a busy and varied role that would suit individuals who can work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
You will need to be organized, possess good communication skills, have the ability to work in a small specialist team and be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
- Duties Include:

- Receipt all incoming cases / samples paying particular attention to continuity and integrity of all incoming packaging.
- Check all incoming cases / samples to ensure all cases / samples documented on the customers transfer paperwork have been received correctly.
- Ensure that the details on all case paperwork and item packaging is consistent and query / report any inconsistencies.
- Accurately log all incoming cases / samples on a computerised case tracking system.
- Prepare data for weekly and monthly reports on the numbers of samples received and processed, as requested by a Team Leader or Manager.
- Make enquiries via telephone calls or e-mails to resolve queiries regarding cases and items received and assist in answering enquires from customers.
- Log and prepare exhibits for returning to customers or for destruction as per agreed customer protocols.

- In light of the serious consequences of any error, this role requires meticulous attention to detail, accurate record keeping and a responsible attitude to the work being carried out. Forensic DNA testing has a very high media profile and any errors or lapses in quality would be likely to attract serious adverse publicity for Cellmark.
- In this job role the job holder will come into contact with a broad range of forensic samples including those from serious crime scenes and mass disasters. This could include post mortem samples.
