Cellmark has a history of pioneering the introduction of quality standards in DNA and forensic testing.
Cellmark's laboratories are accredited by the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) to ISO/IEC17025:2005 for a broad range of forensic testing and analysis services; paternity and relationship testing; and veterinary testing. Forensic Science Regulator’s (FSR) Codes of Practice and Conduct
In 2013 following a pilot with UKAS, Cellmark became one of the first organisations accredited to the FSR Codes, a standard which in time is expected to become mandatory for forensic laboratories.
ISO17020 (Crime Scene Attendance)
Following completion of a pilot study with UKAS, in 2012 Cellmark became the first UK organisation to be accredited to ISO17020 for crime scene attendance.
ISO9001:2008 (Quality Management System)
ISO9001 is the world’s most widely recognised quality management standard. It provides assurance that an organisation consistently provides products and services that meet customer requirements, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. Cellmark is assessed by SGS UK Ltd and has been certified to ISO9001 (or its predecessor BS5750) since 1990.
ISO14001:2004 (Environmental Management)
ISO14001 is the globally recognised standard for environmental management systems demonstrating commitment to preventing pollution, meeting applicable legal and other regulatory requirements and for continually improving overall environmental performance. Cellmark is assessed by SGS UK Ltd and first achieved ISO14001 in 2010.
ISO27001:2013 (Information Security Management)
ISO27001 is the international standard for information management systems. It addresses both IT and physical security, and includes comprehensive risk management to identify and mitigate security threats and vulnerabilities. Cellmark was an early adopter of ISO27001 in the forensic sector and first achieved certification, assessed by SGS, in 2012.
